Premier Winde welcomes extension of 2022 Census Count to 31 May, urges residents to get counted so that the Western Cape gets its fair share At the current rate, with just 70% of the provincial population counted, it would not be possible for Statistics South Africa (StatsSA) to close the census count in the Western Cape. That is why I welcome the announcement by the Statistician-General of StatsSA, which is responsible for this project, that the count in the Western Cape will once again be extended to 31 May 2022.

Premier Winde and Minister Allen: Western Cape Government welcomes launch of LEAP Reaction Unit The Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde, and Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Reagen Allen, welcomed the launch of the Law Enforcement Advancement Plan’s (LEAP) Reaction Unit today by joining the Unit in a ride-along, departing from Steenberg SAPS. The Reaction Unit, which is made up of LEAP officers, has been redeployed to Steenberg and Ottery following an increase in gang-related violence and shootings in Lavender Hill and Grassy Park, respectively.
